dc.description.abstractΗ απόλαυση του υψηλότερου δυνατού επιπέδου υγείας είναι ένα από τα θεμελιώδη δικαιώματα κάθε ανθρώπου. Επιπροσθέτως η υγεία ασκεί άμεση και καθοριστική επίδραση στην κοινωνική και οικονομική ευημερία μιας χώρας. Παρά την αύξηση του προσδόκιμου επιβίωσης σε διεθνές επίπεδο, εξακολουθούν να υπάρχουν αν όχι να διευρύνονται σημαντικές διαφορές στα επίπεδα υγείας τόσο μεταξύ των χωρών όσο και μεταξύ των κοινωνικοοικονομικών ομάδων. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία που εκπονήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος Ευρωπαϊκής Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής διερεύνησε το ζήτημα των κοινωνικών και οικονομικών ανισοτήτων στην υγεία, των παραγόντων που ευθύνονται για αυτές τις ανισότητες καθώς και τις θεωρίες που ερμηνεύουν αυτές τις ανισότητες. Η έρευνα πραγματοποιήθηκε μέσω της επισκόπησης της πρόσφατης βιβλιογραφίας. Τα αποτελέσματα δείχνουν ότι το εκπαιδευτικό επίπεδο, το επάγγελμα και το εισόδημα, είναι παράγοντες που επιδρούν καθοριστικά στο επίπεδο υγείας του ατόμου και είναι υπεύθυνα σε σημαντικό βαθμό για τις υπάρχουσες ανισότητες. Τα ευρήματα δείχνουν ότι οι πολιτικές για την ισότητα στην υγεία θα πρέπει να εστιάσουν προς δράσεις που αμβλύνουν την επίδραση παραγόντων που σχετίζονται με την κοινωνική διαστρωμάτωση.el
dc.description.abstracttranslatedEvery individual has the right to attain the highest possible state of health. Moreover, the state of health has a direct and significant impact on the social and economic prosperity of a nation. While life expectancy has increased worldwide, there are still substantial disparities in health state, which may be growing, both across nations and between the different socioeconomic classes of the same nation. The present thesis is carried out as part of the master’s degree in European Social Policy, examined the issue of economic and social disparities in health, the causes accountable for these disparities, and the theories that elucidate these disparities. The research was carried out by means of literature review. The finding indicate that the level of education, the occupation, and income are factors that affect decisively an individual’s state of health, and they play a substantial role in contributing to existing disparities. The findings also indicate that future policies targeting health inequalities should focus on measures that mitigate the impact of factors associated with socioeconomic stratification.el
