| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει τον ρόλο της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης ως διεθνούς παράγοντα στην ισραηλινο-παλαιστινιακή σύγκρουση. Στόχος είναι να αξιολογηθούν οι διπλωματικές, πολιτικές και ανθρωπιστικές πρωτοβουλίες της ΕΕ, αλλά και, ειδικότερα, της Ελλάδας, ώστε να διασαφηνιστεί η δυναμική της εξωτερικής πολιτικής σε συνάρτηση και με τα ευρύτερα γεωπολιτικά συμφέροντα για την προώθηση της ειρήνης και της σταθερότητας στην περιοχή. Τα ευρήματα που προέκυψαν από την ανασκόπηση της βιβλιογραφίας δείχνουν ότι, ενώ η ΕΕ έχει υποστηρίξει με συνέπεια μια λύση δύο κρατών και παρείχε ανθρωπιστική βοήθεια, η αποτελεσματικότητά της περιορίστηκε από τις εσωτερικές διαιρέσεις και την έλλειψη σκληρής ισχύος. Η ισχυρή φιλοπαλαιστινιακή θέση της Ελλάδας υπό τον πρωθυπουργό Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου τη δεκαετία του 1980, που χαρακτηρίζεται από μια στενή σχέση με τον ηγέτη της PLO Yasser Arafat, έχει εξελιχθεί προς μια πιο ουδέτερη προσέγγιση, ευθυγραμμισμένη πιο στενά με τις ευρύτερες πολιτικές της ΕΕ. Ωστόσο, οι στρατηγικές επιδιώξεις της Ελλάδας στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο έχουν επηρεάσει τη σύγχρονη στάση της. Όπως διαπιστώνεται από την έρευνα, ο αντίκτυπος της δράσης της ΕΕ είναι περιορισμένος εξαιτίας των διαφορετικών προσεγγίσεων των κρατών μελών και των θεσμικών περιορισμών. | dc.description.abstracttranslated | The present essay examines the role of the European Union as an international actor in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The aim is to evaluate the diplomatic, political and humanitarian initiatives of the EU, including, in particular, Greece, in order to clarify the dynamics of foreign policy in relation to the wider geopolitical interests to promote peace and stability in the region. Findings from the literature review show that while the EU has consistently supported a two-state solution and provided humanitarian aid, its effectiveness has been limited by internal divisions and a lack of hard power. Greece's strong pro-Palestinian position under Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou in the 1980s, characterized by a close relationship with PLO leader Yasser Arafat, has evolved towards a more neutral approach, more closely aligned with wider EU policies. Greece's strategic interests in the Eastern Mediterranean have influenced its modern stance. As the research finds, the impact of EU action is limited due to the different approaches of Member States and institutional constraints. It therefore underlines the need for greater unity and cooperation to enhance its influence in conflict resolution. | el |
