dc.description.abstractΣτόχος της μεταπτυχιακής μου εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση και κατανόηση της οικονομικής, πολιτικής και κοινωνικής δράσης μοναστηριών της Μεσσηνίας δια μέσου των αιώνων. Αρχικά εστιάζουμε στην παρουσία του Χριστιανισμού, στις απαρχές του ασκητικού – μοναχικού βίου στην Πελοπόννησο καθώς και στη διοικητική οργάνωση της Εκκλησίας κατά την Πρώιμη και Μέση Βυζαντινή εποχή. Κατόπιν, παρουσιάζουμε την ιστορία της ίδρυσης και της ονομασίας ενός εκάστου μοναστηριού, τον τόπο όπου βρίσκεται, τους κτήτορές του, τα περιουσιακά του στοιχεία, τις δωρεές προς αυτό, τη ζωή σε αυτά μέσα από τις διακονίες και τα καθήκοντα των εγκαταβιούντων εκεί μοναχών. Τέλος, παραθέτουμε στοιχεία της αρχιτεκτονικής του, του ζωγραφικού και γλυπτού διακόσμου του.el
dc.description.abstracttranslatedThe aim of my master's thesis is to better explore and understand the economic, political and social activity of Messenian Monasteries through the centuries. At first, we focus on the presence of Christianity, the beginning of ascetic - solitary life in the Peloponnese, as well as the administrative organization of the Church during the Early and Middle Byzantine era. Then, we present the history of the foundation and the nomenclature of each Monastery, their location, their founders, their property, the donations to them as well as the life in them through the occupations and duties of the monks living in them. Finally, we present elements of its architecture, paintings and sculptures.el
