| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The conquest of Lakonia by the Franks, the annexation and the incorporation of the region into the core of the recently constituted land of Peloponnese, the Latin prince of Achaea, is inextricably linked to the rampant developments and radical changes that occurred after the fall of Constantinople, by the Latin crusader troops in 1204. In the context of the invasion of the new political regime regulators, new institutions and forms of Western feudalism were introduced into the territories, including the castle. The Western type castle, which was part of a wider framework of housing, military and administrative organization that the Franks applied throughout the territory of their Hegemony, had multiple functions, constituting the nucleus of their socio-economic life and the symbol of their power and dominance. Nowadays, a considerable number of castles are preserved in the area of Lakonia, whether they were the commodity of the new settlers or linked to themselves. The purpose of this work is to show and highlight this part of the history of Lakonia and its inheritance through the exploitation of the civilization of the capital. We have attempted to propose the mapping of cultural routes linking the fortification works of Lakonia, thus forming a castle network. Through this action, which is one of the most widespread implements for the development of cultural tourism, the aim is to become the means for the visibility and acquaintance of residents and visitors with historical character of the Frankish Lakonia, as well as the tool for the further protection and management of the fortification reserve. We hope also to be the fuel for local socio-economic sustainable development through the promotion of a quality cultural tourism. | el |
