Abstract
Human Resource Management has always, but much more nowadays, plays a decisive role in the effort made by the private and public sector and of course the Local Government, to respond to the diverse and growing demands and services, both in social and economic terms at technological level.
In the narrow context of the procedures and functions of the local government processes and functions, this thesis examines the current situation of the Municipality of Acharnes and draws conclusions and proposals in all the functions of Human Resource Management. Its purpose is to investigate the importance and the way in which Local Government Organizations (OTAs) of the first degree manage the human resources they employ.
In order to achieve the research objectives of the study, a quantitative primary survey was carried out on 180 workers-staff of the Municipality of Acharnes. For the needs of the research, a questionnaire was created that is addressed to all specialties and all positions available in the Municipality. The survey was conducted in January 2023 and the questionnaires were forwarded to the Municipality staff via e-mail. Survey data were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 statistical program. The findings confirmed that the Municipality of Acharnes has several strengths and opportunities that upgrade it, but also several weaknesses and threats that it must use as motivation for improvement.
