Abstract
The aim of this dissertation is to contribute to the growing volume of research and knowledge on the field of Diasporic Studies and to shed light on new findings related to the Greek Diaspora in Egypt by exploring the colonial, post-colonial, and contemporary construction of its cultural identity.
This research posits, and departs from, a central research question: In which respect, and to what degree, can the Greek Diaspora contribute to Greece‘s Soft Power, illustrated by the Greek Community of Egypt and its resilience in time.
In applying a diachronic socio-cultural lens on the Greek community in Egypt from the 19th century till this day, builds a theoretical frame based mainly on Diasporic studies, drawing on concepts such as Acculturation and Adaptation.
